0:10okay hear me yes so my name is Yuri Suzuki and I'm categorized as quite strange we're like sometimes someone called artist someone called the designer some someone called Mutual's well.

0:25And then that kind of since I graduated from like Royal College of Art in 2008 I have been doing quite a lot of different things and as I said I could working for where. I am and making kinetic musical instruments and also making kinda lot for the video of a music video and making like the Tube map like from Radio and then making that kind of sound the car like looks like kind of in a sound taxi I created and it is a kind of breakfast machine I created so in a way I'm really like abstract for a long time I was quite surprised I can survive for this ten years. Actually then yeah listen to that news I joined pentagram and then why in a way.

1:11So in a way it's really interesting because they approached me like two years ago Rach are you interested in become partner and yes then this whole process is very tight but it's really nice because kind of all process was very nice like talking with all partner and how open these companies then okay like this really nice thing change for my career and now I joined I'm sateen partner in that non office and not very good number so obvious maybe not like can be duck duck for that pentagram Mary and I'm 23rd pattern in the overall I go in the world I can include New York officer hosting and the building and the come back to me the one of the pattern asked me like how can I describe your practice and then. That's a good question I was just thinking again again artist designer musician and mmm okay how can I categorize myself so I'm starting at my pastor article and I found quite a nice article in the one magazine from Brazil called Casa book magazine so Philip star crack he like put like my walk on the neck on the magazine and then he categorized me as Yuri Suki is unexpected opera by himself and it says no name for his creativity that's pretty nice for him and and the new perk mind so it is more than that we could not identify this UFO therefore it is exciting and I thought this is very amazing compliment eyes I saw that just amazing then. I got Jessica thinking again like what primary I'm like working and as a you know artist at design and mission. And I just kind of ditch the point I'm really interesting communication and which is not far from concepts of the pentagram and I'm just like like introduce one project called sonic playground that's actually it's not pentagram project before joining pentagram I did a large Commission for high medium art in Atlanta in us.

3:11So they came to me like if they have a summer commissions amazing opportunity a really big space in the museum and you can do anything you want and I was thinking like just something brief find out brief is quite important and I can see like it's kind of like a division between like people coming to museum or not so I want to have a sort of space like people to communicate and the increase in communication in the way under people like naturally enter to the gallery so I proposed this one so basically a lot of haunts in here and the people like talking to their and the sound that this distribution very neck kind of distorted why and a terrible well strange why and accidentally can make communication.

3:58So that's a really fast proposal but that production is very painful actually I didn't really expect such a hard thing we had to do and the first of all like we had so much engineering but from the disrobe and I didn't imagine about any calculation like a number the mathematics at all but to able to do a perfect acoustic system we have to do that mathematics and then we worked with amazing like a acoustical engineer Luca and he quickly make this algorithm and the Sicari creation will grasshopper and making acoustic simulation calculation on the computer and the final we made a decent installation.

4:36So well so this picture looks like very like a rendering but actually not so it's every single picture so we spend comes three months and I can this building this kind of strange acoustic sculptures and the function hoop the disc sculpture the people just coming in and talking into that focus up with this one like a left side sound coming to the right side and the right side sound coming to the left side so you can actually have got acoustically upside down. And sometimes I'm like children talking to like one horn and this height is totally different a doubt or in the kind of middle and I kind of child labor so accident that you can have like interesting communication on the conversation with other people and yeah this is one with the example two and then this was some exhibition.

5:21And it's very helpful because kind of you know to think about kind of privacy everyone hiding their face so it's easy to take a picture actually so but it was in summertime in the Atlanta it's very open space and so many people came. And we got quite good feedback and ♪

6:08so I thought this project is really good to describe about my kind of practice in terms of audio communication. And I'm waiting to rock sound on the audible communication.

6:17And I'm categorized sometimes myself as sound designer and I just want to show like one exhibition I've done again this year to Stanley picker gallery in Kingston it's cause like what is sound design so I did one actual exhibition called furniture a music exhibition at Stanley picker gallery so basically I designed a series or I could defined object based on my sound observation like such as acoustic table rack which is increasing sound or the surface of the table and also like this is a kind of mobile phone has got small rekha music box inside so I try to can be designed domestic soundscape in really better betterment in a way so like a disobedient to show you sound has a strong effect on the people it can give us comfort and a lot about the positive effects meanwhile if it is designed battery it can also give us discomfort and the distract us from enjoying life my name is Yu Suzuki and sound art is undesirable in London the exception title furniture music comes from settled music by Alexa T it is original ambient music I were always inspired by his compositions as well as Brian Eno's work for this experiment in my work I won't have closer attention to the sound which surrounding us and the offers help to improvement through my design these are automated rainstick accounted by live data streamed from beaches across the world this data is used to simulate Sounders waves using white noise and random oscillations I wanted to create a soothing and relaxing soundscape this stapler amplifies any movement or noise unstable with a caustic chamber if you have conversation with someone it always feels more comfortable to have startled noises around this piece with my attempt to create table which allows people to have better conversations I believe washing machine and Brenda's and most noise household tools this idea came from Marshall Hobart and who asked me what if we could use sound from them to make music instead of destructive noise the musica cattle differ from similar concept when water is boiled diskette to tells you with your favorite music wine noise has got a lot two properties one of them is making silence originally brought me India back 2009 my white noise machine is a simple way of masking sound this mobile phone has a music box inside instead of electronic sound from tiny speaker which is probably quite provocative you can get the better quality acoustic sound which is more present for us to hear I believe sound is very strong medium and the influence has a lot I hope this exhibition stimulated pizza - listen Caffrey - what sort of noises or sound exists in the world and to reconsider if that is what our homes cities or parks should sound like in the future this year as you can see I've done quite a rhetoric sound research how lack sound and music psychological effect how we can change behavior and then my mission in the pentagram from now on accusing that norwich and expanding fielder was the kind of experience design and the sound definition with the sound design as well. So it's kind of very beginning so not so much things to say now.

10:47But yeah if you do connect my activity from now to be great thanks so much [Applause]
